Finding a meeting

How to find an AA meeting

We don't run a meeting finder. AA already keeps the best one, and it's free. Here's where to look, and what a first meeting is like.

Where to look

  • Find A.A. Near You ↗

AA's own directory of local offices and online groups, worldwide. Pick a place and it points us to the local meeting list.

  • The Meeting Guide app ↗

Free, from AA, for iPhone and Android. Meetings near us, by day and time.

  • Online meetings ↗

The Online Intergroup of A.A. lists meetings by video, phone and chat, at all hours of the day.

Or call the local AA office (often called intergroup or central office). Someone there can tell us where to go tonight.

What a first meeting is like

  • It's free. A basket may go around; nobody has to put anything in.
  • Nobody has to speak. We can say our first name, or just listen.
  • “Open” meetings welcome anyone. “Closed” meetings are for anyone who has a desire to stop drinking.
  • Getting there a few minutes early and telling someone it's our first meeting helps. People remember their own first one.
  • If one meeting doesn't feel right, we try another. Every group is different.

The steps on this site work alongside meetings, not instead of them. Start with Step One →
